Three Mainstream Pure Copper Grades for Precision Custom Machining

We select pure copper based on purity, oxygen content, conductivity and ductility to match different working environments; three core machining-grade copper families as below:

C11000 ETP Electrolytic Tough Pitch Copper

Most cost-effective universal pure copper with ≥99.90% Cu content, standard 100% IACS conductivity, excellent ductility and general machinability. Widely used for busbars, electrical terminals, common heat sinks and standard conductive fittings. Not fit for high-vacuum & hydrogen-rich working condition due to trace oxygen content.

C10200 OFHC Oxygen-Free High-Conductivity Copper

High-purity oxygen-free copper ≥99.95% Cu, ultra-low oxygen ≤10ppm, outstanding weldability and vacuum compatibility. Ideal for aerospace electrical components, vacuum chamber parts and medium-end RF connectors.

C10100 Ultra-High Purity OFE Oxygen-Free Copper

Top-grade ultra-pure copper with oxygen below 5ppm, minimal impurity, superior low-temperature & high-frequency performance. Applied for semiconductor sputtering targets, microwave waveguide, cryogenic equipment and high-end medical precision conductive parts.

Core Functional Advantages of Pure Copper for Precision Machined Components

Core Functional Advantages of Pure Copper for Precision Machined Components

Pure copper is the top conductive raw material for precision manufacturing thanks to unique physical & chemical features:

  • World-class electrical & thermal conductivity: Near 100% IACS conductivity among commercial metals, best option for heat dissipation and power transmission components;
  • Excellent ductility & formability: High elongation rate, easy bending, deep drawing and complex CNC forming for ultra-thin miniature parts;
  • Moderate natural corrosion resistance: Dense passive oxide film prevents atmospheric oxidation; extra plating further improves anti-tarnish performance;
  • Antibacterial property: Inherent germ-inhibition characteristic fits food-grade and medical equipment component production;
  • Full recyclability: 100% recyclable raw material, reduces clients’ production cost and supports sustainable manufacturing goals.

FAQs About Copper

What grades of copper do you work with for precision parts?

expand_less expand_more

A: We specialize in high-purity copper (C10100/C11000), oxygen-free copper (C10200/C10300), and high-performance alloys like beryllium copper (C17200/C17300). Each grade is selected based on conductivity, machinability, and application requirements.

Why is copper often used in precision electrical components?

expand_less expand_more

A: Copper offers exceptional electrical conductivity (second only to silver), excellent thermal dissipation, and reliable corrosion resistance. This makes it ideal for connectors, busbars, and shielding components in electronics and power systems.

Can you machine complex copper parts with tight tolerances?

expand_less expand_more

A: Yes. Our advanced CNC machining, micro-machining, and EDM capabilities allow us to produce intricate copper components with tolerances as tight as ±0.001″ (±0.025mm), ensuring precision for critical applications.

How does copper compare to other metals in terms of machinability?

expand_less expand_more

A: Copper and its alloys are generally highly machinable, allowing for complex geometries and fine details. However, pure copper can be gummy; we select appropriate alloys and optimize cutting tools and parameters to achieve smooth finishes and tight tolerances.

How can I request a quote for a custom copper part?

expand_less expand_more

A: You can easily request a quote by visiting our "Contact Us" or "Request a Quote" page. For the most accurate quote, please provide your drawings (STEP, IGES, or PDF), specify material type (e.g., C11000, BeCu C17200), quantities, tolerances, and any surface finish requirements. Our engineering team will promptly review your project.

What types of copper alloys do you work with?

expand_less expand_more

A: We specialize in machining a wide range of copper alloys to meet specific application needs. This includes pure copper (C10100, C11000), brass (copper-zinc), bronze (copper-tin), beryllium copper (for high strength), and copper-nickel alloys. Our engineers help select the optimal alloy for your project’s requirements.
